So this week was Spirit Week at DC, right? As in, school spirit? Well, it’s hard to have school spirit when everything is completely biased. Especially today. For crying out loud, I completely gave up on playing the games because there was no point.
Monday was purple-and-gold day (school colors). Tuesday was pink day because pink was Becca Winslow’s favorite color. Both were pretty normal, except on pink day, we had the Bathrobe Brigade appear. This was a group of about a dozen guys from different classes that all wore pink bathrobes (and shorts) to school. After those two days, the week seemed to be improving.
Wednesday was my favorite day – class theme day. As a junior, my theme was sports movies. Tch! As if. Ellen and I completely blew the theme off and came dressed as wood elves. We said the sport was archery and the movie was Lord of the Rings. We got a ton of positive feedback from classmates and teachers alike (except those two JERK girls who sit behind me in Spanish class…). And it was really a lot of fun! There was also a sophomore named Devon who came as a dark elf. And there were like 8 Men in Black (including some girls XD). And my friend Nikki came as Trinity from the Matrix, claiming her sport was long-jumping.
Which was funny, because Mike came as Morpheus and another guy came as Neo, so we had the whole gang there. They had my personal Best Costume award, but my Favorite Costume (after Ellen and myself) went to Naia…
because she went as a ninja from Naruto.
Yes, you read that correctly. Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce the first ever DC Narutard. (I used that term, and Mike actually knew what I meant. XD) Headband, outfit and everything. And we had a Star Trek guy from the sophomores (sci-fi theme), but his wasn’t as cool. And another girl had a blue wig on, and I almost thought she was Eureka from Eureka 7, but she said she was just being random with a colored wig. No cookies for her.
Thursday was slipper day – also fairly normal. Then there was today: Spirit Day. Where we all wore our class t-shirts, played games and tried to earn points to gain possession of the Spirit Stick. But the seniors cheated at dodgeball (really, everyone cheated at dodgeball, but they were the worst), and when juniors went against sophomores in tug-of-war, like half the seniors jumped in to help the sophomores. Which was stupid. And most if not all of the teachers didn’t call stuff like that and were really biased toward the seniors. Stuff like that pretty much ruins school events for me.
Moving on to more happy events. On slipper day, Elise wore slipper-socks that she’d knitted herself. Which is reeeeeally awesome in my book. But that reminded me: if anyone knows an online free pattern for some sturdy socks, please let me know, because I kinda need them. (James, Chris- sorry this is taking so long.
) And while we’re on the topic of knitting, I might as well tell you some news…
Carly and I are going to Ohayo*con in January! We’ll be in Artist’s Alley under the name Kioku Creations. Carly will be selling prints and such. I might have a few bookmarks or prints, but I’ll also have knitted stuff, most pertaining to anime/manga series. A LOT of knitted stuff. Here’s the list:
- Timcanpy plushies (d. Gray man)
- Naruto headbands
- Kakashi fingerless gloves
- Roy full-finger gloves w/symbol on palm
- FMA-Ed scarves (black and red w/ flamel on ends)
- AKUMA scarves (black and white with stars)
- Mokona hats
- Kitty ears hats
- Kitty ears headbands
- Inuyasha ears headbands
Ohayo*con is in Columbus on January 4, 5 and 6 – the first weekend in January. I do not yet have details as to the location. Hopefully, Carly can provide me with those sometime soon. Thanks to all my viewers so far; you guys are awesome!

=D heya again star. Just a couple things…
Yes, the teachers are completely biased. I see why, they’ve had the students for 4 years now and they lost every time as frosh, sophomores, juniors, and so this is their last time to win (dunno if that is completely true, but we lose all the time =D). As for seniors helping in the tug of war, I don’t doubt it. I have no idea what transgressed however, because I was working on pulling >.<
Finally, with Ohayocon, copyright laws may prevent the actual show names being used in the selling of the items because the names are not public domain. However, because the people will probably know the series anyway, they will probably know what show they are from. Also, I don’t think that copyright laws prevent something like “Inuyasha-like headbands” or something to that extent, but don’t quote me on that. All for now, I gotta head over to Camp Jabez =D
Ekim
Ah… thanks for pointing that out.
I did ask CJ about that just to be safe, and she said the chances of me getting nailed for it are like under 15%. At a larger convention (like Anime Expo) it would be closer to 30%. The only problem is if I make too much noise about it and have really good sales and a Viz rep finds out… they may ask me to stop. In which case I would, but I reeeeeeally hope that doesn’t happen. I could always label it as “fanart”, I suppose….
Ja ne!
Jen-er-stardragon! Tag, you’re it! I gotta go post all over carly now…
*tear* I have to do torturous history now…
No spam cookies for j00, Alex! rawr *random*
Anyway, Jen…
And it’s even a RED freaking jersey.
1. That girl WAS Eureka. She just didn’t know it. I will glomp her mentally.
2. Holy cow, you remembered and quoted like everything I said about the copyright issue thing. Good for you.
3. You’re too competitive and crap. Go throw cookies at the seniors. Or something…
4. YOSH FOR BLOWING OFF THEMES!!! XD though you could’ve been Ayako from Crimson Hero. I have her jersey number (#2) so I could’ve loaned it to you
5. My team got 2nd place in my tourney, and I got MVP~~~~~ I feel like Nobara ^___^
… forgot to ask: what’d the Spanish class peeps do? >_>
They’re just jerks and really prissy, and they’ve treated me like crap since school started. Exactly like the kids in middle school. And they make fun of me no matter WHAT I do, so I’ve pretty much given up on the situation ever improving.
YAY CRIMSON HERO!!! Agh, I need to finish that print!
